New York 2003

Over the years I've done some crazy things to my cars, some have been quite embarrassing although some of my car projects have been very impressive if I say so myself. I was once featured on Channel 4's Big Breakfast as they were looking for the loudest car stereo in England, so I could resist! Oh, and I won it with a record 158db officially measured in front of millions of TV viewers.

My fame didn't last long, as that really put the pressure on the rest of the competition scene having me (some guy that turned up out the blue) blow the competition away! A chap called Rob Cohen took the title of loudest car in England later that year with his VW Golf that reached 160.1db!

That was some time ago now, and since the SPL competition scene has gone crazy and I wanted to do something very different by fitting a powerful computer in my Accord Type-R. After being the loudest, I wanted to show people that I could also achieve incredible sound quality. So I did, and the results can be seen in my Carputer section.

Not my first car audio project, but this was certainly my loudest! I fitted 8 x 15" Cerwin Vega sub woofers, and 10 full range speakers into my diesel Renault 19. The sound system alone weighed in at 0.6 tons. You can imagine the car didn't go very fast, but it was VERY loud!

I never did get round to finishing the sound system in this car, but it was a very nice looking Honda Civic Coupe with 17" alloys and a sleak black look.

My latest project; in car computer, JBL audio speakers and 1 x 12" sub woofer. Certainly not as loud as the Renault 19, but crystal clear high definition audio is what we're talking about here!
